We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

The Barossa Valley is a store of old vines coupled with an extended number of grape varieties that produce ripe, fruity, modern wines. Classic ripe Shiraz that is handpicked from old Shiraz Vines based in the north of the Barossa Valley. The grapes are double-sorted - by bunch and then by grape - on arrival at the winery and, after fermentation, aged in French and American oak for a year. Purple in colour with a round, enveloping taste.

Wine SpectatorLush in texture, but subtle in flavor, with black olive and meat notes adding interest to the dark berry and licorice flavors, lingering with finesse on the silky finish. Drink now through 2016.

Wine AdvocateThe 2006 Explorateur Old-Vine Shiraz was blended with a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple-colored, the nose reveals smoke, meat, scorched earth, pepper, and blueberry. Easygoing on the palate, it has a forward personality, decent depth, and savory flavors. Drink this friendly effort over the next eight years.

Jay Miller, February 2009
