Cims de Porrera Priorat Clàssic 2001
|Brand||Cims de Porrera|
Wine AdvocateThe 2001 Classic is a blend of 85% Carignan (from 60-100 year old vines) and 15% Grenache. Notes of bay leaves, thyme, spice box, graphite, black currants, and cherries are present in this vibrant, cooler climate-styled Priorat. With medium to full body, excellent density, and firm tannin, it should be at its apogee between 2007-2014. It is a stunning wine.
Wine EnthusiastA beauty that represents Priorat in its most complete form. Meaty and savage at first, Cims is a terroir wine of the first order. Still, it's polished, with a soft, smooth texture and impressive cherry, cola, spice and vanilla flavors. Coffee and mocha on the finish seal the deal. Made by Sara Pérez of Mas Martinet. Imported by Multiple Importers.
Wine SpectatorRipe, almost roasted, with black cherry, wild herb, licorice and black pepper notes. Has rich, round tannins and good concentration, but remains balanced and generous, with a spicy finish. Best after 2004.
