Averaen Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2016
Not unlike the vintages preceding it, 2016 was an early harvest with immaculate fruit conditions yielding almost no disease or bird damage. Thanks to a warm spring, condensed flowering and a record-setting hot August, we were afforded the ability to pick our "early risers" at ideal flavor maturity, while our later ripeners at higher elevations could unfurl their character more slowly with very little disease or bird pressure. Vintages like 2016 that present us with such a large harvest window has led to wines of incredible complexity, representing the uncanny diversity of the Willamette Valley.
