Castello di Cacchiano Chianti Classico 2012
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Chianti Classico|
|Brand||Castello di Cacchiano|
Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Chianti Classico is 95% Sangiovese with smaller parts Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera and Colorino aged in large oak casks. This traditional blend of Tuscan grapes opens to a darkly saturated color profile with soft and enduring aromas of sweet cherry and blackberry. The wine also shows tertiary definition of tar and campfire ash. Castello di Cacchiano tends to release their Chianti Classico wines later than its peers, although I'm not convinced this extra bottle aging is necessary, especially in a warm and sweeter vintage like this. The alcohol is recorded at 15% and you definitely feel it. Drink Date: 2017-2022.
