Siduri

The 2008 Siduri Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 24% Clone 777, 24% Pisoni Selection, 24% Pommard, and 28% 828 Clone. The grapes were picked over a 9 day period during the end of September and early October. We utilized whole clusters on all the clones except for the 828 and fermented with primarily indigenous yeasts. The grapes came in at near perfect levels of flavor, sugar, acid, and concentration, so there was no need to adjust anything. (If only every vintage could be like this.) This makes our job much easier. There is a reason while winemakers say 90% of the wine is made in the vineyard. The wine was aged for 10 months in 70% new French oak before being bottled. The result of all of these decisions was what we consider to be our best Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir yet.

Wine Advocate

More structure, oak, depth, and power symbolize the 2008 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard. About 25% whole clusters are used, and about 70% new oak. This is clearly a Pinot Noir meant to last 6-10 years or more. The fruit displays nice underbrush, gamey, smoky notes with plenty of red and black undertones. The wine is fleshy, deep, and full-bodied, with an enticing texture and structured, lightly tannic finish. This wine will benefit from another year or so of bottle age and drink well for up to a decade.

Score: 91+. —Robert Parker, August 2010.
