Chateau de Saint Cosme

67 % Grenache - 20% Syrah - 12% Mourvèdre - 1% Cinsault Aged for twelve months: 70 % in 1 to 4 years old barrels - 15 % in wooden vats - 15% in concrete vats. The dry summer of 2007 gives us a magnificent intensity and precision in the wine. They remind me of 2005 for their balance and their freshness. They gained plenty of density during the ageing and they offer the wide range of aromas.

Wine Spectator

Ripe and very suave, with gorgeous toast and Black Forest cake aromas leading the way for mulled fig, boysenberry and kirsch flavors. The long, rich finish is well-detailed, with blazing minerality stretching it out. Drink now through 2020.

Score: 93. —James Molesworth, 2009.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Gigondas possesses a dense purple color in addition to a stunning bouquet of charcoal, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, acacia flowers, and a hint of chalk. Full-bodied with terrific fruit intensity, a layered texture, gorgeous freshness, and acids that provide a well-defined personality to this blockbuster Gigondas. Despite its size, substance, and depth, the overall impression is one of sublime elegance and purity. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.

Score: 93. —Robert Parker, October 2009.
